Learn about The West Country Way cycle way.

By bicycle, travel leisurely through some of England's finest countryside. The west country has something to offer everyone.

This site is not owned by Sustrans, it has been created by two people who rode the cycle way in June 2008, Jim Callender and Fiona Taylor.

Agreeing that it probably was one of the best holidays of our lives - living for the outdoors, riding through quiet country lanes, seeing amazing things each day that you wouldn't see out of car window. With the unbeatable feeling of freedom. The west country is a place that shouldn't be visited in a hurry.

We did it, so can you!

You can see from the photos on this site that we carried bike panniers, this made it more comfortable for our days riding. Carrying camping, cooking equipment, clothing and lots of water! We were doing 45-50 miles on average a day. We completed the trip arriving in Padstow in 7 days, and this is what the itinerary is based on.
